Many times when people come to know Jesus, they are coming from a background of destructive habits, addictions, abusive situations, or generational strongholds. Even though they now know that Jesus died to give them abundant life, it may never become a reality in their lives if the past bondage is not broken off and the strongholds pulled down. Even though Jesus already won the victory, the devil is going to challenge us on it. In fact, the Bible clearly says in 1 Peter 5:8 " ...your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour." He literally wants to destroy your life.
He knows we have been given authority over him, but he also knows our authority is weakened, if we compromise. If there has been compromise in a person's life where the enemy has gained a position of strength, he is not likely to leave unless he is evicted! However, it doesn't do a lot of good to evict him if he is given an "open door" again the next day! Free Indeed wants to help teach the body of Christ how NOT to give the devil an "opening" (a legal right to operate in one's life) and how to close all the doors that may have been opened in the past! All through the book of Revelation it talks about being an overcomer. In Revelation 12:11, it says: "They overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb (Jesus) and the word of their testimony". When we apply the blood of Jesus to our lives, we are applying the finished work of the cross, which gives us: - Healing - physical, mental, and emotional
- Forgiveness of past sins and the power to break the hold of sin off our lives completely
- Protection from the enemy
- Authority to kick the enemy out of our lives & pull down all strongholds of evil
- Restored relationship with our creator, Almighty God, which was broken when Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden
- The ability to approach the throne room of God boldly with our prayers
- Abundant overflowing life here and eternal life hereafter
The "word of our testimony" is what the Lord has done for us. It is giving glory to God for all that He has done in our lives. The devil wants to steal it because there is power in our testimony as we speak it to others! James 4:7 tells us that if we will "submit" to God and resist the devil, that he will flee. Unless our lives are FIRST submitted to God, we cannot effectively resist the devil! |
